A Note From Charles April 2020
Article Information & Social Sharing
Dear friends and guests,
This is not an easy time. The likes of the COVID-19 pandemic and the requirements of social distancing and, at times, people needing to quarantine or isolate themselves, is unprecedented. In response, on March 18th, we made the difficult but necessary decision to close the Inn during this time.
The health and safety of our guests, our staff and our community is naturally of utmost importance. Ultimately this was at the forefront of our minds when it came to deciding how to proceed. While visitors love to visit us because we are a small vibrant community on the remote western edge of Vancouver Island, our remote location is also a reason we needed to take action. It is necessary for our community to minimize our visitor base so as to ease the potential demand on our small town’s limited resources at the hospital, as well as on other essential services. In order to prioritize our mutual health interests and follow best practices as advised by Health Canada, we saw it as our responsibility to cease the Inn’s operations until this global issue has passed; we hope working together means this will happen very soon!
While we have never seen anything like this, it is very heartening to see people around the world rally to creatively connect through song from their windows, video calls on their computers and other virtual experiences (perhaps you have joined in!?); it encourages us to remember that we are in this together.
We are all feeling the effects of the COVID pandemic and, while there are no clear answers at the moment, as a person who has lived a life by the sea, I know the tide will come in again. And when it does we will be eager to welcome you back to our shores—that I can promise you!
Wishing you and your families health and wellness as we all become expert hand washers and physical distancing practioners.
