Summer is bustling around us! I’ve been enjoying seeing the holiday-makers and summer-breakers gathering in warm pockets of sun, partaking in each other’s company, the splendour of activity and the long days of August.

And while we may all yearn for an endless summer, I secretly look forward to September; it is one of the most agreeable times of year to be in Tofino.

Shortly after the Hurrah! of Labour Day weekend there’s a small but noticeable hush that hovers around town, giving just a little more space and time to relax and enjoy each moment as it unfolds. Perhaps it’s that there are fewer people, perhaps it’s the start of settling down after summer’s energetic rush, but there are still many sunny days to enjoy in the weeks before autumn arrives, and those that can visit at this time of year—should! An added bonus for surfers and surf watchers alike is the waves start to get better and more consistent but the water still holds a residual warm temperature from the summer sun.

On another celebratory note, Travel + Leisure has awarded the Wickaninnish Inn with a couple of their “World’s Best” Awards for 2018. We were ranked 77th in the “Top 100 Hotels Worldwide” and received the Number 2 spot in Canada—just behind Fogo Island Inn in Newfoundland. Voting comes from visitors like yourselves, who are acquainted with what we offer, and we regard this kind of recognition as high praise. We are honoured and grateful for the people who continue to share their time with us and delighted to offer the service, facilities and hospitality to create those magical exceptional experiences we all strive to deliver.

With gratitude, and in appreciation of the memories we continue to share, I hope to see you soon.
