Just over three weeks ago, BC’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, announced a stop to non-essential travel in the province in order to curb the spread of COVID-19. At the Wickaninnish Inn, our team understands the vulnerability of our coastal population and the limited resources our community has, so, while not an easy decision, closing our doors once again was a necessary one.

We know closing the Inn has meant you, our guests, may have been unable to fulfill your plans and make it to Tofino during winter holidays, and yet you’ve shown an incredible outpouring of love and support around our decision. Thank you.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have continued to take extra precautions—closing first, and opening again only when Phase 3 allowed for non-essential travel—to ensure the safety of our community, our team and our guests. We continue to keep a close eye on provincial health and industry directives, and we will keep you updated on any changes. We were hoping to reopen for some celebrations, and had commenced decorating the Inn in festive attire. However, since reopening for the holidays is not possible, we will be sure to share pictures and videos on social outlets, so keep an eye out!

Wishing you and yours a safe, healthy and happy winter holiday, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back as soon as we can.

Warmest wishes,

Charles
