It’s amazing to me just how far we have come and how our collective efforts have seen us through a time like no other. Together we have entered the waning days of this pandemic and come to a place where we are beginning to return to some of our most cherished and familiar joys. As these late-spring days continue to bloom and become the longest and brightest of the year, I am thrilled to share that we are busy preparing to reopen our doors once again!

On May 25th, Premier John Horgan and Dr. Bonnie Henry announced the end of the circuit-breaker restrictions and the beginning of British Columbia’s four-step Restart Plan. Based on this, we could not be happier to announce that we are re-opening the Inn on Friday, June 4th, to guests residing in the Vancouver Island Health Authority. We are optimistic that as this plan unfolds, we will be able to welcome guests from all health regions within the province of British Columbia beginning June 15th, followed by all our neighbours and friends from the rest of Canada, hopefully, on the first week of July. With these milestones on the horizon and vaccinations continuing to rise in tandem with our continued efforts to keep each other safe, I look forward to the time where we can finally put this pandemic behind us.

It’s hard to believe that almost seven months have passed since the hotel closed its doors. In that time, our teams have tirelessly prepared and perfected every element in and around the property, with no detail too small for their attention and care. My hat is off to our incredible Maintenance team and their tremendous work ensuring our property is in perfect shape and to all of our teams working to resume operations and renewing our commitment to creating magical experiences for you, our guests.

Wherever you are, one of the things we want to ensure is that you can experience the wonder of Chesterman Beach as vividly as possible. Based on your valued feedback, we are pleased to share that we have added a live audio feed to our Beachcam to bring you even closer to nature’s edge.

Another reason for celebration this month is the 67th Anniversary of Relais and Chateaux. We are so proud to be a member of this incredible family, share in its mission and values, and be part of Western Canada’s Route de Bonheur.

With the moment we open our doors right around the corner, we can’t wait to see you again and show you the beautiful views of Chesterman Beach and all of the exquisite offerings of this wild place. We wish you safe travels, and we look forward to welcoming you very soon.
