Queen of the Peak (Sept. 28-30, 2018): This annual women’s surf championship just finished! We couldn't be prouder of our intrepid local and visiting female surfers who started this amazing event to celebrate our ladies in the water - congratulations to all participants. There’s been some big news on the international surfing stage in the last month: the World Surf League (WSL), one of the world’s most prominent surf organizations, has announced it will award female and male surfers equal prize money in its competitions—a huge step for professional surfing. Our local QOTP competition has been celebrating women surfing for almost a decade now, and while it’s a little smaller in scale than the WSL, it has just as big a heart. We have an incredible community of surfers here in Tofino, and love honouring the women who’re getting out there. We are very proud to be a founding sponsor of this incredible event we continue to support.

New access to facilities at The Pointe: As you likely know, we’ve been undergoing some extensive renovations this year. They include a new stairway just behind the new On the Rocks Bar at The Pointe Restaurant; the Yellow Cedar stairs trimmed in Yew wood lead to a foyer where guests can comfortably access two unisex bathrooms. There’s also a glass doorway off this same foyer offering a sneak peek into the wine collection in our new Howard’s Wine Cellar.

PEI International Shellfish Festival: This fantastic international culinary celebration has now wrapped, and we were so proud to see our own Junior Sous Chef Michelle Matheson invited to compete with 11 other talented chefs (six of which competed in Top Chef Canada last season!). Congratulations, Michelle!
